If you didn't know, New York City has spent months and months looking over possible designs for new taxis and has recently announced the winner... Nissan!
According to the New York Daily News, "The Japanese automaker has been selected to produce the "Taxi of Tomorrow" after submitting a bid based on its NV200 minivan design, sources said.
Mayor Bloomberg is set to make the announcement Tuesday morning at City Hall."
The contest pitted Nissan against American automaker Ford and Turkish automaker Karsan. NYC officials said the winner would get a ten year contract to provide NYC with taxis to ferry around the millions of tourists and residents that NYC boasts.
According to the New York Daily News, NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg will make the announcement official at a Tuesday press conference.
