Gasoline prices are likely to spike in the Bay area this weekend in California as Chevron reported a malfunction at its 245,000bpd refinery in Richmond.
Wholesale prices shot up near a dime Friday and retail prices are expected to follow higher, pinching a state that already leads the nation in highest gasoline prices.
There is no estimation at this time as to how long it will take Chevron to repair or restart their facility and prices can be expected to remain active over the next few days.
