When you hear this story you may not know whether to be sympathetic toward this Florida teen's parents, or, wonder perhaps whether they're scratching their heads just like the rest of us...
Robert Kelley, 18, was arrested after he drove through New Smyrna Beach, Fla., weaving in and out of traffic, running stoplights and even being involved in hit-and-runs, and then posted it online under the title ‘Me Driving Like an Idiot.’ Kelley, who was hospitalized during his stunt, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving and driving without a license.
According to the NY Daily News, He is said to have posted the footage to YouTube the day after the accident.
The video, set to a techno beat, reportedly showed the New Smyrna Beach resident running his car through red lights and weaving in and out of traffic on April 28.
He then allegedly hit another car and drove off before ramming into a trio of other cars stopped at another red light. Cops were called to the second smash, which saw Kelley cut out of his car and airlifted to hospital.
Three other people were also injured from the crashes, but none suffered life-threatening conditions.
New Smyrna Beach Police Sgt. Eugene Griffith has been fielding plenty of phone calls on this one. For the record, Sgt. Griffith told us yesterday that the teen took his dad's car without permission and everything happened within about 15 minutes of leaving his home.
Obviously, this incident could have ended much worse than it did. Let's be thankful it didn't.
