The 2015 Chevrolet Traverse crossover has earned the top five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The Traverse received five stars in front and side crash tests and four stars in the rollover test.
The rating applies to front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the Traverse.
Standard safety equipment on the 2015 Traverse includes electronic stability control, antilock brakes, a rearview camera system and a tire-pressure monitoring system. Forward collision alert and lane-departure warning systems are standard on the uplevel Traverse LTZ.
Siri Eyes Free, which cuts down on driver distraction, is a new feature for the 2015 model year.
The 2015 Chevrolet Traverse has not been rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
Key competitors to the Traverse include the 2014-'15 Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, Nissan Pathfinder and Toyota Highlander.
The 2015 Toyota Highlander also earned a five-star overall safety rating, while the 2015 Honda Pilot earned a four-star safety rating. The 2015 Ford Explorer and Nissan Pathfinder have not yet been rated, according to Edmunds.com.
