8ft drift huh? Reminds me of my Chicago days, used to live a few miles west of Hammond. I worked for Pullman Standard. I moved here to get warm and it didn't work. (but no snow) Be well! (and nice photos!)

Thanks for your thoughts, but it's pretty obvious that weight is the primary difference between the derailments and the lack of derailments of other products transported. That's one main reason why the article talks about "better brakes", because of the massive and collective weight. (the locomotive engines are squat by comparison) And hey, trains don't derail in the front dude. It's also a matter of far higher forces of kinetic energy. I respect your opinion, but you can't change my mind or the laws of physics. Happy Sunday!

You wrote: "What a bunch of News Media Hype. And this post is an opinion. Everyone has one of them. They need to stick to the facts." You are right. If 'fracking' does in fact contribute to earthquakes, they are very, very small ones. What I don't like about the practice is the untreated waste water injections deep into the ground, water that can get into the ground-water that's used for everything from drinking to farming.

67 feet and 10 inches per car is what I was trying to calculate. I'm thinking because I see two containers on flat cars they must be about 90 feet long.

Thanks for the message about Beagles. Oliver is 10 months old and our fourth Beagle. Barney lived 10 years, Riley 12 years and Millie passed away last March and she was almost 14. Wish long lives for your Beagles. I met a guy walking his dog two years ago and his Beagle was turning 20, so it is possible,
