Got cut off,
When margins are negative for too long a brand may do a step out and see if others will follow, if they do great, if not after several days they will fall back to the pack. On rare occasions when inventory is long they may step down but most of the time sellers do that to unbranded players and not their branded dealers. I would bet your misses come on days someone is stepping out because they take the full spot move plus maybe 5 cents to see if others will follow. Unless you work for one of those companies in the right department you will never see those coming.

Mid day pricing is not always the final answer but if you look over time you will find that it varies little from mid day to close. Since prices need to be submitted and then sent to all customers of each brand the final prices are determined by around 3:00 pm each day. They wait for the sopt postings to come out from OPIS but they are sometimes delayed and the sellers release their prices anyway. Wholesalers and Jobbers will try to load more on the days spot is up because it signals increased pricing and less on days when price is falling because tomorrow will be cheaper. Your misses however are probably not a function of changes from mid day to end of day but rather attributable to the days that individual sellers do a step out. Believe it or not when gas is sold at the rack the margins are only 3 to 4 cents on average. They can be 30 cents and they can be negative. Brands try to price as close to each other as possible but cannot compare prices so things work out such that i

Thanks. It was a close game. I think they peaked too early, and Duke was solid the whole game. Afterwards, my buddy and I got caught in the mosh pit walking down State St. and got a couple scrapes and bruises.. heard there were two arrests. Not too bad though considering people's tendency to riot these days.
