After Michigan crushed Notre Dame 38-0 today, do you think Notre Dame will not make it to a College Bowl game this year after starting the season 0-3?

Notre Dame with 4 players taken in the Top 50 for the 1st time since having 6 taken in the Top 50 in 1993.

Jaylon may never play again but I think that a team will draft him if they don't
need him this year and hope he will be needed and ready in 2017. His knee has healed but
now it is nerve damage. My understanding is that one cannot rehab the nerves so that will have to fix itself, if possible...

AN NFL SCOUT TOLD ESPN THAT NOTRE DAME LB JAYLON SMITH (KNEE) "WOULD'VE BEEN A TOP-THREE PROSPECT" HAD HE BEEN HEALTHY.

This is more or less the consensus opinion. Now, ESPN's Mel Kiper predicts that he'll go in Rd. 2, while CBS Sports' Dane Brugler has predicted Day 3 (Rds. 4-7). "How long is it until he's ready to play?" a scout asked. "And when he is ready, is he the same player that he was before?" Smith is a long shot to play in 2016. The 6-foot-3, 235-pounder had 115 tackles and nine TFL last year.

Who will start for the Irish?

Malik Zaire opened the 2015 season as Notre Dame's starting QB, but an injury forced DeShone Kizer into action and he performed well. Who starts for the team in 2016?

NOTRE DAME T RONNIE STANLEY SIGNED THE FIRST-EVER NFL ENDORSEMENT DEAL WITH SHOE BRAND ZAPPOS.

Yes, beautiful. We wholeheartedly approve of offensive linemen signing shoe deals. The 6-foot-5, 318-pound Stanley wears predictably monstrous flippers at size 16. The minutia of the deal is interesting (assuming shoe deals by offensive lineman fall in your interest wheelhouse), as it apparently came about due to the fact that Stanley signed with mogul Jay Z's Roc Nation agency. Roc Nation president Michael Yormark eventually made the match with Zappos, saying that "at the end, we talked about the traditional way athletes are marketed with their shoe and apparel deals and felt it made sense to work together to try something different."

Very fun day on the Notre Dame campus. Couldn't go although I live 7 miles
from the campus. Lots of stories in our local paper and on TV so I got a lot of the ins and outs of most of the players. Good "combine" for several of ND's great players...mm13

Making moves

Notre Dame's Jarett Grace likely punched his ticket to an NFL training camp by running, jumping, lifting and moving like a legit NFL linebacker.

Very interesting comments BAD PETROLEUM. Never expected to see such positive
reviews on Notre Dame football...and then you switched so beautifully to
Notre Dame basketball. Haven't checked out this forum for a while since football
season concluded and was surprised to see your follow through...See you down the field!!! mm13

Three to get ready.

DeShone Kizer, Malik Zaire and Brandon Wimbush may comprise the most talented, but inexperienced, quarterback depth chart in the nation.

NO. 6 NOTRE DAME 70, NO. 11 MICHIGAN 63

NEW YORK (AP) — V.J. Beacham scored 18 points, including the 3-pointer that gave Notre Dame the lead for good, and the Fighting Irish beat Michigan.

The Fighting Irish (22-11) didn't take a lead in the game until Beacham's 3 with 9:26 left to make it 51-48. From there on there were five lead changes and three ties.

Michigan (23-13) controlled the first half, taking a 41-29 lead. Notre Dame scored the first eight points of the second half, a run that included 3-pointers by Vasturia and Matt Farrell, matching the team's total of the first half. It brought the Fighting Irish within 41-37.

Beacham's 3 with 4:24 left gave Notre Dame a 62-59 lead, one they never gave up.

Michigan beat Tulsa 67-62 on Wednesday in the First Four. Wichita State, the other 11th seed to win a First Four game, advanced to the second round with a victory over Arizona.

SCOUT INC.'S NATHAN FORSTER WROTE THAT "[S]COUTS MAY BE CONCERNED THAT [NOTRE DAME WR WILL] FULLER HAS A RELATIVELY SLIGHT BUILD (6-FEET, 186 POUNDS), BUT SIZE IS HIGHLY OVERRATED AT THE WIDE RECEIVER POSITION."

"Great wide receivers have come in all shapes and sizes; what matters is production," Forster believes. He cites Football Outsider's "Playmaker Score," which projects Fuller to average 561 yards per season over his first five years in the NFL--second only in their projection to Baylor WR Corey Coleman. NFL Media analyst Mike Mayock has compared him to Emmanuel Sanders, but Forster went back slightly further to comp him to Santonio Holmes and Torry Holt.

Notre Dame's QB camp make it playoff-ready.

Notre Dame has three quarterbacks who could start in 2016, but no matter who earns the job, he will lead an Irish team with the talent to make it into College Football Playoff contender.

PRO FOOTBALL FOCUS RANKS NOTRE DAME WR WILL FULLER BEHIND LESS-HERALDED PROSPECTS LIKE DANIEL BRAVERMAN, RASHARD HIGGINS, MICHAEL THOMAS (THE SOUTHERN MISS ONE AS WELL AS THE OHIO STATE ONE) AND LEONTE CARROO.

"There are two problems with Fuller, the first being the fact that he dropped 21 of the 159 catchable passes thrown his way between 2014 and 2015," Gordon McGuiness wrote. "The second is that many see him as a one-trick pony who can only really have success as a speedster on go routes. The thing is, he’s pretty good at that one trick, and his 4.32 40-yard dash time backs up the fact that he is one of the few receivers in this draft class who can burn defensive backs downfield." While the 6-foot, 186-pounder stands accused of being a one-dimensional body-catcher, he did lead college in deep-ball catch rate last year. Fuller caught an elite 17-of-29 targets thrown 20-plus yards downfield and turned those 17 touches into 10 touchdowns.

What an attitude BP. Calm down! Ever watch a bowl game? Just watch the players reaction. The
winners are extremely happy and the losing team is just the opposite. If bowl games were not important to each team that is in one, why even participate. Why even play the season's games at all. It is about the reward of going to a bowL, in most cases for a successful season. It is a BONUS. Only one team can win it all and the games are played for a seasons standings from #1 to at least #25. You might even call it "ENTITLEMENT". Be happy, even your Miami team, the "U" went to a bowl. I don't begrudge them even if they are/were convicts...

@ 9 & 1 I don't think that the great Notre Dames football team of 2015 will be
missing a bowl game...

Also today I just witnessed Muffet McGraw, Coach of the Notre Dame womans team win her 700th game. The Lady Irish have been to the final 4 each of the past 5 seasons and the final game 4 times out of the 5...

GO IRISH!!!

5 starters out for the season after just two games...So far the next man in has worked out. Big game this weekend vs. Clemson at Clemson. This was considered the largest obstacle pre season. If the Irish can come away with a victory and no major injuries they could easily sweep the rest of the regular season...

jcs72 must not know football. All it takes is 6 victories to get into a bowl and there are 20 to 30 bowl games...
