Dads and cars go together like steak and potatoes. So it's very timely that TrueCar.com should identify the 10 most popular cars for dads.

After all, more often than not it's Dad who taught you how to drive, and it's our dads whose car care habits, vehicle preferences and driving tricks (otherwise known as 'road tests' your mother doesn't need to know about) are passed along to us in the DNA. That's right, I'm pretty sure scientists are on the verge of discovering that if your dad had a loyalty to Chevys there's a good chance you will too.

"Unlike the list of vehicles men PREFER, which includes the Porsche 911 in the top spot, the data shows that fathers have traded in speed for practical vehicles with a back seat," says Kristen Andersson, senior analyst for TrueCar.com. "Dads need a fuel-efficient car for commuting to work and weekend activities," she added.

And that's just a crying shame... that's all this dad can say. Regretfully, my dad's Oldsmobile Cutlass is nowhere to be found on the current list! So what are the 10 Most Popular Cars for Dads?

First, let's take a look at some of TrueCar's key findings:
Honda has four vehicles in the top 10 including the Accord, Odyssey, Civic and Pilot.

Three large trucks made the top 10 including the top vehicle, Chevrolet Silverado 1500 along with the Ford F-150 and Ram1500 pickup.

Odyssey ranked the highest among dads (and actually moms) with at least two kids, due largely to its ability to hold up to eight people along with 38.4 cubic feet of cargo.

The two most expensive cars on the top 10 were both minivans; the Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey with MSRPs at $34,015 and $32,455 respectively.
