I've already made my summer forecast for national gas prices known, but I've continued to analyze individual state prices. I came up with this map over the weekend which clearly indicates where I believe prices to peak this summer for the United States.

Much of the difference in pricing is related to taxes and proximity to key oil infrastructure and refining capacity. You'll notice that areas of the West Coast that have strict pollution regulations will have the highest prices. Areas in the Gulf and lower Midwest that have the lowest taxes and fewer requirements for fuel will see the lowest prices.
I expect we'll see peak prices around late-May/early-June and again late-August into September.
