NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- General Electric will order "tens of thousands" of electric cars in about a week, the conglomerate's chief executive said Friday. In a speech in London, CEO Jeffrey Immelt said the purchase would be the largest of its kind in history. But he did not specify exactly how many vehicles GE would buy, nor what brand of electric cars would be included in the order. [More later...]

Your post on the topic "Chevy Volt, Nissan Leaf among Green Car Finalists", your post indicates skepticism that may change if you have some credible new information. See for yourself at www.popsci.com/cars/article/2010-10/never-mind-naysayers-chevy-volt-excellent. It says, in part, "Never Mind the Naysayers: The Chevy Volt is Excellent" then the article begins with, "Behind the wheel, we find that GM’s highest-profile concept car has become a refreshing, radically different kind of production vehicle... Now, after several hours and nearly 200 miles driving and riding in saleable Volts, we know how the finished product drives. And the news is very good."

You wrote on Mar 31, 2010 " We need north America to be self sufficient now." Why? If we shut off imports, not only would the price of fruits and vegetables go up by a factor of about 10, items 'Made in China' would too. Oil might surpass that. Wars have started for less egregious reasons. But YOU'RE RIGHT and it's probably going to happen around the turn of the Century. If not wars, skirmishes will be fought and people will die. The commodity that will be fought over, bought and sold like oil, rationed and hoarded will be water. When that time comes, Arizona is probably going to be mentioned in conversations as the place that people's parents or grandparents came from.

I like your statement on putting politicians into the hopper. Article on 'Paper fueled cars'. But they would probably only make pollution.

Great post asking for specifics on the "Eco-Tire" thread.

The palaver that more efficient is bad is not backed up by any facts.

Interesting comment about fuel prices site in "What Can We Learn From Amsterdam About Waste to Energy?" Did you forget the when the was Moderator posting the article it applied to the "clean energy" clause in the GB submission guidelines " Articles should be on the topics of gas prices, crude oil, clean energy, fuel efficient vehicles or related automotive articles." You can try to submit a story and look at the guidelines yourself. http://www.winnipeggasprices.com/Suggest-News-Article.aspx
