I take quite a few supplements every day (and zero pharmaceuticals, not-so-coincidentally ;-), so I'm very concerned about the quality of the ones I'm taking. If a vitamin is being taken to help prevent something like cancer or osteoporosis, I don't want to wait to find out when it's too late that I was taking a poor quality vitamin and I got that condition. There are a lot of brands of vitamins out there that FAIL independent laboratory tests. Typically, it's the ones you'll find at grocery stores and drug store chains that either do not have the amounts in them that are listed on the label or they have other ingredients that aren't listed and may be harmful. If you're concerned with quality like I am, visit your local health food store where the better quality brands are typically found.

I've been a paying subscriber to Consumer Lab (http://www.consumerlab.com) for quite a few years and will only buy vitamins from companies who pass their tests, regardless of the company's claims about their product. Because of their consistently passing test results, I've been very pleased with both the quality and the value of the Vitamin World brand and buy most of my vitamins from them, either online or in their local store.

As with anything related to health, it's best to check with your doctor before taking any supplements. And if your doctor isn't knowledgeable about supplements or tells you that you can get all the vitamins you need from your diet, do your health a favor and find a doctor who understands the value of supplements and the possible interactions they may have with any pharmaceuticals you're taking.

I got attracted by the pill packaging: Centrum Silver Chewables. They're big horse pills butt they're easy to chew and the don't taste bad at all.

The major difference that I noted over the straight Centrum is that the Chewables are considerably larger. Most of the added room is filled with calcium compounds.

Interestingly enough: Made in Canada.

I take a multi vitamin daily. Break it in half taking half in the morning and half at night. it was suggested by the Dr to do it that way because of my thyroid medication.

Yep, it's red, I've been giving wife B-12 injections every two weeks for almost 20 years... never a problem. Sometimes she comments that 1.5 inch needle stings a little but usually she never feels it. :)

The most frequently used B-12 formulation is such a pretty red and it's unlikely to cause an injection site reaction.

It's occasionally used as an injectable placebo for that reason.

I need to but it seems I have very little ambition to go shopping on the weekend.

Ike did not help that. Every traffic light is different: working, flashing, scrambled, gone.... although I think they're making an effort to get the worst cases fixed. Got to work today without seeing anything worse than a flashing four-way stop.

Calcium is a mineral (and quite important to boot), but it's frequently paired with Vitamin D.

I don't think I have missed taking my multi-vitamin in the morning in 20 years. I almost panic if I didn't take it with my breakfast to be honest. I keep some in my office at work just in case I forget.

GNC Mega-Man Multi and Omega 3,6,9 every day!

My doc says your vitamins only help the foods you already consume. Don't take vitamins thinking they will take the place of foods you should eat.
Like the lables say, they are supplements.

Omega three, 3 times a day
Calcium, 2 times a day
Stress B, twice a day.

Here's a question, is there any difference in the maker of vitamins? I just buy what ever is on sale.

Yes, but doctor said you don't need them if you eat the right things. Nice, but they can give you tons of precriptions that just go againist each other, with a lot of side effects. My husband's meds made his breast grow & they don't know which one it is.
