I'd never even heard of deer whistles until about five years ago. No, I don't use them.

They were popular in the late 80's. You still see them, but there is no push for them anymore.

I did until the day i hit a deer and read closer. Minimum MPH 35. The speed limit where i hit the deer. 35. I was not going fast enough for it to work. Most of the limits where we see the most deer are 40. Gave up.

Rip off, they don't work. The guy who invented them is probably on his private island near Tahiti laughing at those who bought them.

The hum of my tires do a pretty good job at making the dear lift its head up and usually my headlights reflect off the eyes and when I see that I just slow down

I got my deer whistles from my insurance company and I use them. If I hit a deer, I'd at least like to know that I did everything I could to avoid the accident. I've hit one deer and that's one too many.

Last time I had a confrontation with a deer, I lost. Saw the deer, and managed to stop without hitting it. Darn thing just stood there and looked at me. Finally I got tired of waiting, and blew the horn --> wrong thing to do apparently. Deer lowered his head, and charged the car. I ended up with a punctured radiator, and the deer walked off the victor ..........

sometimes driving slowly will not help you as I have seen deer try to beat cars. They are not too smart and will jump out in front of you. Noisy cars are best I think but even the noisiest are not immune.

I wondered about this but have used them and felt like they did work. It seems like the deer kind of stayed away when they were on the car. But they have not been tested by anyone I know that I would trust. I have used them for at least 10 years and have not so far hit a deer.
