I check my DOT codes for each tire before rotation and balance. I write down the last parts of the numbers to make sure they were actually rotated after the service. I didn't want to mark the wheels with tire chalk because that is too obvious; and the tire shop might think you are paranoid. It's a good thing I checked them in the end: two wheel covers were loose, and the tire air pressure was wrong on two tires by one psi. They say nitrogen doesn't expand when heated, but it does, even when not on the car! I check just about everyday. One day my spare (which I filled with nitrogen) was 64 psi, the next it was 60.
