If you were puzzled by today's "question" on GasBuddy's Facebook Page , you weren't alone. Many people forget that Canada has a significant amount of oil! So- if you said Canada was the top source of oil to the United States, you were right!

Now- do you have any idea on how much oil we're talking about? If not, I'll tell you. In May 2009, the U.S. imported a total of near 360 million barrels of oil. Of that, roughly 68 million barrels (or twenty percent) came from Canada. The next highest importer of oil to the U.S. was Venezuela, sending us 41.5 million barrels in April. Many believe that Saudi Arabia is on top of the list, but the Saudis sent "only" 33.4 million barrels to the U.S. in May.

Next time you think of imported oil, think of Canada! In fact, there are many projects in the development and construction phase to bring even more Canadian oil to the United States.

We see many ads referencing the U.S. addiction to "foreign" oil, so do we call Canadian oil "foreign"? What do you think?
